About
Giki is a wiki system based on "Wiki!" ( http://w-i-k-i.sourceforge.net/ ) but with added features.About the Name
People call Giki any number of things, and I haven't dont a good job of standardizing the naming, mostly because I don't care very much. But for your information:- The name of this wiki system is 'Giki'. It is not 'Giki Wiki' or 'The Giki Wiki'.
- The name of this site is 'The Giki Wiki', because it is a Wiki about Giki.
- The template for Giki says 'A Giki Wiki' because it is a Wiki implemented in Giki.
Download
I recommend using Custom Giki to make a download with all of your plugins preconfigured, then click here for setup instructions. If you'd like to download the components individually, Click here for downloads, and click here for setup.
It's also possible to Upgrade Giki (and recommended when there's a new version)

Features
Some of the added features are:- File uploads
- An option to allow guests to post
- History
- Templatable nav-bar
- More secure logins
- A plugin system
- Support for multiple languages
- Support for nodes used as part of the page template. For example, the sidebar at the left is actually the LeftBar node, and was included in the template with
$node[LeftBar]
Because it's based on Wiki!, it:
- Has a flat-file database system.
- Is very simple to set up.
- Is highly templatable.
Plugins
As far as I know, I (GregorR) am the only person who has developed any plugins, though the plugin system has a perfectly open API, so anyone can write plugins. Mine are all available on SourceForge. The noHTML and GWS plugins come with Giki (but are not installed by default), the others come in the GikiPlugins package.- A Giki WikiSyntax plugin by GregorR
